    The Federation’s position as an authority on software intellectual property rights is well known throughout the industry and government alike. In recognition of this expertise The Federation is invited to take part in various government and industry groups and think-tanks.

    FAST Corporate Services Logo

    FAST Corporate Services (FCS) – www.fastcorporateservices.com

    FAST Corporate Services is a licensee of the FAST brand in the delivery of an education programme leading to the FAST Standard for Software Compliance (FSSC 1: 2007) a private standard developed in collaboration with the BSi. Its tried and tested formula helps organisations properly manage and control their software assets.

    Confederation of British Industry (CBI) Logo

    Confederation of British Industry (CBI) – www.cbi.org.uk

    Member of the Intellectual Property Committee whose objective is to ‘Make Britain a champion for intellectual property creation, protection and enforcement, both in Britain and internationally.’ This committee will address IP issues affecting Patents, Trade Marks, Design and Copyright that are of concern to British industry and make recommendations to government.

    Lead member of the Workplace Strategy Group, Prevention and Intervention Groups consisting mainly of enforcement practitioners who consider strategies to deal with IP Theft.

    Alliance Against IP Theft Logo

    The Alliance is a coalition of trade bodies and enforcement organisations, providing a single voice for those who share an interest in preventing intellectual property theft in the UK. The Federation chairs the Digital Group within the Alliance.



    UK Intellectual Property Office is an operating name of the Patent Office

    CREATE Education Group – sponsored by UKIPO

    The CREATE Group works to educate children between the ages of 7 and 18 about intellectual property. The Wallace & Grommit initiative under the ‘Cracking-Ideas’ banner is offered to schools to demonstrate the value of IP in a practical way to students of all ages.

    Internet Enforcement Group (IEG) – www.ieg-uk.org

    The IEG is a cross industry body of Internet investigators representing the book publishing, music, games, software, merchandising and film industries. The IEG was established in 2001 to work co-operatively in fighting on-line piracy on behalf of its Members.

    The group meets on a regular basis, discussing current piracy issues and pooling knowledge and experience.

    The Business Software Alliance (BSA) is an international agency with representation in over 85 other countries world wide, including the UK. The BSA is dedicated to promoting a safe and legal digital world and, along with The Federation, belong to the Alliance Against IP Theft.     Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) Logo

    The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) is a trade association for the software and digital content industry based in Washington DC. Its principal mission is to promote, protect and inform the industry. For more information and contact details visit their website at www.siia.com.

    The Business Software Alliance (BSA) is also an American based agency but they do have personnel in the UK, and representation in over 85 other countries world wide, and also, along with The Federation, belong to the Alliance Against IP Theft.   • ASIA PAC

    In March 2006 The Federation was invited to speak at an International Conference in Seoul, Korea on Global Trends and Issues on Protection of SW Copyright. The Conference was hosted by the Korea Software Property-right Council (SPC) together with their Japanese and Chinese counterparts the Association of Copyright for Computer Software (ACCS). A strategic Alliance was formed with both agencies to pursue the common objective of eliminating software infringement and fostering the software industry by using authentic software products in their domestic markets and worldwide. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed to cement this relationship with hosts SPC.

    Under this Alliance it is envisaged that there will be a series of joint initiatives to promote IP protection as well as sharing information and personnel.

    Korean Software Property-right Council (SPC) Logo

    The Korean Software Property-right Council (SPC) is the only non-governmental software protection organisation in Korea. It was established in 1993 and has about 120 members comprised of software copyright-holders, distributors and software related companies. The main activities include lobbying government for IP legislation, technical support for law enforcement agencies anti-piracy activities, publicity for software copyright protection, consulting business and international activities with similar organisations.

    Association of Copyright for Computer Software (ACCS) Logo

    The Association of Copyright for Computer Software (ACCS) was established in 1985 under the name of Legal Surveillance Corporation for Software and changed to its present name in 1990. Its mission is to make a contribution to cultural development of computerised society through copyright protection of digital works and PR activities, research and surveys and assisting in enforcement. It currently has 307 member companies.
